PROXY MUSIC + Nick Carlisle
More info
After a fifteen year hiatus, Proxy Music are back with their conceptual art-rock schtick - a little more jaded and creaky but sounding all the better for it, and still absolutely immersed in decadent retrofuturist 1973 glamour. Thogdin Ripley: Bryan Ferry Heidi Heelz: bass and vox Charley Fucking Stone: guitar Nick Carlisle: synth wizard Oliver Whawell: sax and oboe Percy Mackay: drums and original Roxy Music DNA Is it an art project? Is it a tribute band? Who cares! It's the most fun any self-respecting Roxy afficionado can have with their clothes on... Support comes from NICK CARLISLE Nick has been active on the DIY scene over the last twenty years, with bands such as Peepholes and Bamboo (Upset The Rhythm). Currently bringing his synth and Mellotron livescore to the silent movie Haxan around the UK, he has also made three solo albums of songs in the last few years, including new album "The Mad Decades" which he'll be performing selections from with his band.

Would-Be-Goods
More info
Would-be-goods, with their elegant and evocative guitar pop, are promoting their latest album, 'Tears Before Bedtime'. Jessica Griffin, enigmatic star of 80s cult label él, is at the helm, with guitarist Peter Momtchiloff (Talulah Gosh, Heavenly), Debbie Green, drummer and darling of the London nineties garage scene (Headcoatees), and Andy Warren, legendary bassist of Adam and the Ants and The Monochrome Set. ‘Elegant and timeless guitar pop’ (Excellent Online) ‘Marvellous stuff.’ (Caroline Sullivan, The Guardian) ‘The elegance of Jessica Griffin’s writing… romantic with a capital R, and tender to a T… pretty impressive stuff.’ (In Love With These Times - Albums of the Year) ‘Catchy tunes delivered through Griffin’s gorgeous yet idiosyncratic singing voice… A perfect example of pop songcraft’ (Erasing Clouds) ‘Wonderful, bittersweet, warm and intelligent pop songs’ (Eardrums) ‘…smart words, lush baroque pop and stylish taste’ (Chickfactor) SUPPPORT Rachel Love Rachel was a co-founder and guitarist/singer/songwriter of the beloved post-punk and proto-indie pop trio, Dolly Mixture, who blended 1960s girl-group harmonies and melodic pop hooks. Rachel emerged decades later with solo work that channels gentle psychedelia, pastoral textures, and analog warmth. Her latest album, “Lyra,” a tribute to her late husband Steve Lovell, was recorded at home with her sons David and Syd on guitar and bass, with David also co-producing.. Sassyhiya Sassyhiya were formed when Helen and Kathy, real-life partners and co-songwriters, joined up with Pablo and Neil (drums and guitar). Helen had previously been in Boys Forever and Basic Plumbing, collaborating with much-missed Veronica Falls musician Patrick Doyle. She and Kathy then formed Barry, a stripped-down punk outfit. Sassyhiya feels like a culmination of all these elements. Take You Somewhere, their debut album (Skep Wax Records), is maybe as sophisticated as DIY indiepop can get

JETSTREAM PONY and THE LEAF LIBRARY at CLUB PRECIOUS #11
More info
Another fantastic bill from those kind folks at Club Precious, who have rapidly established a reputation for curating a series of unmissable nights on the London indie scene. Jetstream Pony return for their second visit to Club Precious, this time moving to the early-evening Lexington following a sold-out show at the Waiting Room and a brilliant support slot with Prolapse at the 100 Club. A potent mix schrammelig post-punk and indiepop, Jetstream Pony are leading lights of the UK indie scene featuring an array of well-known faces, including Beth Arzy (The Luxembourg Signal/Trembling Blue Stars) and Shaun Charman (The Wedding Present/The Popguns). Recent releases include the highly acclaimed second album Bowerbirds and Blue Things (on Spinout Nuggets) and a sessions EP on Precious Recordings of London. (And no, we still don’t know what ‘schrammelig’ means either; they told us to say it.) The Leaf Library are a north London band playing melodic dream-like music built on layers of chiming guitars, pulsing electronics, noise and looping drones. Their most recent studio album, After The Rain, Strange Seeds was released in March this year to acclaim from Mojo (4*s), Uncut (9/10) and The Quietus (“Brilliantly atmospheric… a quiet, melancholy wonder”). That was their fourth studio album – but don’t forget Library Music, their compilation series on the magnificent Wiaiwya Records. Volume Two is set for imminent release. Led by Davey Woodward of Brilliant Corners fame, Karen are Bristol indie royalty. They play post-punk rock’n’roll indie-pop music via what they describe as “fresh earworms for malcontents bored of today’s beat scene”. So now you know. So that’s three amazing bands for the price of three. Be there or be somewhere else. (PS – the downstairs bar will be open late as usual, but we expect the show to finish about 8,30pm)

Babydoll Deadbeat
More info
UXB Music Promotion & Sounds of The Suburbs Records present https://www.facebook.com/share/1B2ejFV3SW/ https://www.facebook.com/share/19UmxSJ9BA/ ☆Babydoll Deadbeat☆ are an emerging, South London-based post-punk, electronic, and noir-pop four-piece band known for their high-energy underground live shows. The four members met at university and started playing together in London, quickly making a name for themselves in local venues like The Windmill Brixton and The GeorgeTavern. They describe their sound with influences from trip-hop, techno, post-punk, and what has been called "ethereal, guttural, slutpunk lyricism" https://instagram.com/babydolldeadbeat?rpxt=MXNza2ltZjM5YW1jcA%3D%3D https://youtu.be/sLTxWqATbmM?is=DdZwhFh4pTLCiWHt https://youtu.be/nKVJtmqEYf0?is=hccWIw5kJHJqxY8L French Toast is a fresh, dynamic band playing a fusion of indie, garage, rock and soul. All underscored with a rich vein of raw energy punk: musically, philosophically, and politically.Heavy guitar riffs keyboard synth and an infectious beat scaffold a truly vocal and physical performance: their energy spreads at speed throughout the crowd. The sound somehow remains melodic despite the high energy delivery, and the lead singer catapulting from the stage with little regard to the concept of landing. The feminist and anti-discrimination messaging is woven into the performance as a rousing invitation to all.
